David ONeil

As an Intern Therapist, I am committed to creating a welcoming, supportive, and culturally responsive environment where clients feel empowered to grow and heal. I strive to see the whole person, honor each client’s unique experiences, and foster a therapeutic relationship built on empathy and trust.

I enjoy working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life stages, appreciating the cultural perspectives and personal strengths that shape their stories. My specialties are person-centered and existential therapy, and I am interested in working with just about anyone: individuals of all ages—from children to seniors; couples and families; and individuals from multicultural backgrounds. My approach is collaborative, helping clients explore challenges, develop coping strategies, and work toward meaningful goals for a balanced and fulfilling life.

I blend evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with a person-centered and existential perspective to support clients in managing stress, navigating transitions, and building resilience. My therapeutic style is empathetic, grounded, and culturally informed, drawing from my own experiences in international studies and cross-cultural exchange.

I hold a B.A. in International Studies with a concentration in East Asian Studies from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and spent a year studying abroad at Shizuoka University in Japan. Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Science in Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the same institution. My background includes over eight years of volunteer and cultural exchange work, along with professional experience in education and student services, which enriches my understanding of diverse perspectives and strengthens my ability to connect with clients.
