MEET OUR INTERN THERAPIST
Amy Hurley
I am excited to join Arbor Family as an Intern Therapist this spring. I am currently a high school English teacher and educational consultant in the Omaha area and look forward to transitioning into this role to continue serving children, teens, and their families. My areas of emphasis include Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, school-related anxiety, and parenting. I enjoy working with children, teens, and families and will continue to learn and grow to meet the needs of clients.
My therapeutic approach is primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to guide clients in developing practical, useful strategies to improve their relationships, motivation, communication, and emotional regulation. We can never get rid of the challenges in life, but I can help you work through them and support you as you discover your strengths and learn how to use them to live a great life.
I earned my B.S. in Teacher Education and Religion from Grace University and a
graduate degree in Education from Baker University. After 24 years of teaching, I am
currently pursuing licensure in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Chadron State.
My practice is also informed by my life experiences with marriage, grief, trauma, child
loss, and parenting children with special needs. Your experiences are unique to you,
and I offer a depth of understanding, sense of humor, empathy, unbiased support, and
grace informed by my own life. I look forward to meeting you!
